Voice Memos is unavailable as a web app through. Voice Memos is especially popular with journalists, bloggers, musicians and other people who conduct interviews for a living, but it can be used to record just about anything, like your thoughts, impressions and what not. With feature-parity across iOS and macOS, Voice Memos comes with iCloud support which lets it keep your recordings in perfect sync across all your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch devices and Mac computers. Voice Memos is available on iPad with iOS 12 and Mac computers with macOS Mojave 10.14.

Kind of fun to imagine if Apple were to use this for Podcasts down the road… Memos has existed on iPhone since the 2009 iPhone OS 3 software nine years ago. At its annual developer conference in June 2018, Apple announced it would make Voice Memos available for iPad and bring the app to macOS alongside a few other native iOS apps, like Stocks, Home and News. Voice Memos in iOS 14 has an 'Enhance Recording' feature that reduces background noise and echo to make voices more clear.

For example, Apple has touted the new “studio-quality” microphones in the latest iPad Pro and MacBook Pro models. Particularly, the new Enhance Recording feature would be useful for people looking to create podcasts and other audio content directly on their iPhone, iPad, or Mac. Details on exactly how this feature works are unclear, but Apple touts the simplicity of it. Once you create a recording, you’ll see a small icon similar to the Auto adjustment feature in the Photos app.

Apple brought the app to the Mac using its Catalyst technology, which makes it easy for features to be implemented across platforms with a yearly operating system. The Voice Memos app first came to the Mac in 2018 alongside the release of macOS Mojave. With this year’s updates, the Voice Memos app for iPhone, iPad, and Mac is adding support for folders, favorites, as well as a new Enhance Recording feature. IOS 14 and macOS 11 Big Sur bring improvements to a variety of stock applications, including Voice Memos.
